WHO JOINS PURMA?

PURMA utility members are publicly owned, nonprofit electric, gas, water, telecommunications, cable TV, and sewer utilities. This includes municipal utilities and rural cooperatives. PURMA also accepts associate members who subscribe to our high business standards and can help members achieve their goals and objectives.

Comprehensive Annual Insurance Program Review

PURMA sits down with each member annually to review their individual insurance program and make recommendations for improvement.

Contract Reviews

PURMA reviews the risk transfer language and insurance specifications of third-party contracts on behalf of our members and makes recommendations for improvement.

Education and Training

PURMA offers education and training opportunities to its membership both individually and as a group.

Certificate of Insurance Management

PURMA Partners with Starkweather & Shepley Insurance to provide certificate of insurance record management to our members. We communicate directly with vendors to procure compliant certificates of insurance on their behalf. 

Access to Member-Owned Captives

PURMA staff is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our Member-Owned Captives, PUMIC and PEIC which are offered exclusively to our members.

Claims Assistance

PURMA staff is available to assist our members with insurance claims and act as a professional liaison with insurance companies on behalf of our members.

Commercial Insurance Placement

PURMA partners with Starkweather & Shepley Insurance to provide commercial insurance placement for all exposures that cannot be placed in our Member-Owned Captives. Many of our commercial placements are in group programs specifically developed for our members.
